Volunteering Your Service

CHEF operates its volunteer schemes in three platforms:

  1. Professional Volunteers

Professional volunteers are those who opt to provide their services to and through CHEF per gratis. Professionals included here range from health, educational, engineering, legal, accounting to sociologists. CHEF accepts the services offered per gratis and therefore provides neither fee nor salaries for these volunteers. However, their operational costs incurred in the process of implementation of programs may be reimbursed. At the start-up of the volunteering scheme, the professional opts to provide some level of efforts which is clearly tracked and used up. At the end of the scheme, CHEF provides an appreciation letter to the volunteer.

  1. Field Support Volunteers

Field Support Volunteers are individuals and persons who opt to provide their expertise through field support. The range of volunteers under this include: school leavers, interns, NYSC members etc. Their services are taken per gratis but the operational costs incurred in the line of their duties and volunteer scheme may be reimbursed. At the start-up of the volunteering scheme, the volunteer opts to provide some level of efforts which is clearly tracked and used up. At the end of the scheme, CHEF provides an appreciation letter to the volunteer.

  1. Administrative Volunteers

Administrative volunteers are individuals who opt to provide administrative support and cover for a limited period of time including during special programs. The range of volunteers under this include: school leavers, interns, NYSC members etc. Their services are taken per gratis but the operational costs incurred in the line of their duties and volunteer scheme may be reimbursed. At the start-up of the volunteering scheme, the volunteer opts to provide some level of efforts which is clearly tracked and used up. At the end of the scheme, CHEF provides an appreciation letter to the volunteer.

Volunteers are expected to:

  1. Share the vision and mission of CHEF
  2. Implement the activities of CHEF in utmost good faith
  3. Monitor CHEF activities and provide needed report in the approved format
  4. Recommend CHEF to others and promote the ideals CHEF propagates
  5. Network for and with CHEF even after the scheme
  6. Enhance the activities of CHEF through their personal and media channels

Volunteers are entitled to:

  • A letter of appreciation
  • A Volunteer certificates
  • Letter of reference if needed by other organizations
  • Reimbursements of their operational expenses (if approved and agreed upon)
